Mmm... Patty and Bun at Night Tales

What can I say that I haven't already. Hmmm... I think I'm in love.

Not only do Patty and Bun have two epic-ly good restaurants under their belts, now they've added a sweet little lady to their duo. She's called Shirley and a Chilean birdie I know told me they shipped it over from the almighty US of A. Ohmagerd!!! She's a truck that makes burgers. I. Am. Infatuated.

Not only that but I'm even more excited because they're gonna be at Old Street's Night Tales with a ton of other lovely foodie vendors and bars and DJ and shizzle. God I'm literally having a heart attack.

So on the second night of Night Tales my favourite boy and I headed for Old Street in the pouring rain. Did I mention we were going to be popping his P and B cherry? Oh yes. This is getting serious.
Operation brainwash hot boy are a GO!

Unfortunately for us, half of bloody London had the same idea. The weather not dampening anyone's desire for good food. Warned of an hour's wait in the queue hot boy popped by the local off licence and picked up a couple of cans of Gin and Tonics! I think he's a keeper.

We waited, and waited, and laughed, and told food stories, and laughed more gulping down Gin and Tonic until it was finally time we were at the entrance. Four quid later each and we were in.

I didn't know where Patty and Bun's Shirley was but I could smell the deliciously naughty aroma of meat on a metal slab sizzling away and I zoned in on it. I almost forgot about hot chap, only for a millisecond mind you. I grabbed his hand and dragged him to the Van.

There were two burger choices. The Arri Gold and the Pig Dipper.
The Arri Gold needs no explanation. We've already had that lovely meaty treat. But the Pig Dipper is new. Dipped Roast Pork Belly, Provolone Cheese, Sausage Gravy, Greens, Confit Duck, Nduja {which I later found out is a spicy spreadable sausage} in a sourdough bun. Something very different.

We ordered both and decided to share. It's getting serious with this boy, sharing has now become a common occurrence when it comes to burgers, amongst other things! We couldn't order the Shrimp poppaz or the skinny chips because they'd sold out. Meh. Nay bother though seeing as I'm only really interested in hot patties in buns. P&B sliced our burgers in two and we literally were chomping on the bit.

The Pig Dipper was first up. It was juicy, just a little spicy with a kick and perfectly cooked Pork Belly. The gravy made it super slippery. I had a real issue holding the whole thing together without falling apart considering my small girl hands. My hot chap on the other hand seemed to be coping quite well. If a little too well. I know I'm trying to brainwash him but wondered if I might be going too far. He might become a fatty pod person who only ever eats and talks burgers! Like me ha ha!

I can't help but get distracted when it comes to this boy. Apologies. Back to the burgers.

Overall the Pig Dipper wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, especially since I'd experienced the Mr Miyagi all those years ago and it was a killer of a burger. Maybe stick to the perfect patty and an pork accompaniment nestled inside it next time guys?

Now to the Arri Gold. Well what can I say? I am a little bit in love with Patty and Bun for this meaty piece of heaven. I mean the beef, it's just so.... argh! I'll start again. The beef is just divine. It's soft and juicy and pink and bloomin' gorgeous. The meat is the killer decision for me. It's gotta be perfect. And P&B are winning when it comes to their meat.
Everything else in the burger is just winning, and I love the special Patty and Bun Smokey Mayo. The bun is beautifully soft, doesn't fall apart. It's like a good mansize tissue, strong and soft. You know we all need a little of that sometimes!

My hot chap liked it too. He likes food. I am officially a happy Burgerella!

Ten dirty stars for Patty and Bun. Actually make that Eleven.
I'm officially in love.

Mmm... Meat Mission en Masse

We transitioned through the tube, just about intact. Our party split, and two fights almost broke out but that's standard for most commutes through London.
This was a pilgrimage after all. It wasn't supposed to be easy.

Finally we made it to Meat Mission and even though it was a Thursday our table was waiting... Whoop, it also helps when one of us is going out with the bar manager!

We got our table round the side of the main room, an almost private dining experience... I've not been to a burger joint with this many people before. It's good!

The general consensus was to eat loads. We went for the whole menu it seems!
I chose the bacon cheeseburger and chicken fingers with fries. I was hungry. I diverted from my usual choice of the Dead Hippy, the doubleness being far too big for my current state. Since I'd had all of my wisdom teeth out this was my first proper meal out in public since my extraction.
Unfortunately my jaw still wasn't at full health and I could only manage tiny bird bites.
But bite all the same, I was going to eat this goddamn burger.

I've never seen so many burgers!

And it was yummy, although unfortunately it was far too done for my liking. I love a bit of bloodiness when it comes to my meat and this burger was devoid of the pinky goodness of medium rare. My guess is that the bacon cheeseburgers had been done first and while waiting for the rest of the burgers to cook up ours had time to sit and keep cooking. Shame really.

The dead hippy brigade fared much better, I could see the oozing and bloody state of the meat and I was bloody jealous. That doesn't normally happen. I hate getting food envy. One thing I've learnt now is if you find a favourite stick with it. Next time I'll be having a dead hippie.

Our eyes were certainly too big for our bellies but we persevered through the mountain of food. There was a distinct feeling of having accomplished something when the last of the fries were pushed into our fat cheeks full of chicken, burgers and fries.

Greedy bastards the lot of us, I've got some good work mates!

A very good pilgrimage to the mission.

Mmm... Byron The Cut Waterloo

I think I got it bad. This burger problem of mine. Firstly my dear old dear has been on the phone telling me I ought to be consuming more greens and less red meat. As if that's gonna happen. Then I go and meet a very lovely chap who is a little taken aback by my meat addiction.

I never said I was perfect. Far from it. Anyway, so now it's on. My attempt at brainwashing hot chap into thinking my addiction ain't so bad! As far as my mum is concerned it's her job to worry and it's my job to make her worry so why muck up the equilibrium?

After all I am only partaking in burgers once at week and of course I'm quite sporty for a burger addict. It could be worse.

But I'm hoping the boy becomes a regular fixture so I can't quite curtail my burger exploits so brainwashing mode is on.

Firstly I took him to Honest, a very good burger joint. I definitely think I impressed him (I hope).
Now I have to take him to another burger joint. It's kind of an initiation into the world of a girl addicted to meat. Ha. Not for the faint hearted. Thing is, I've figured if he still likes me after seeing me devour a double patty oozing with dirty goodness then he might be a keeper.

I was attempting my most demure self the last time but this time is different. And of course it's building up to the ultimate burger frenzied visit. Patty and Bun. This guy is special.

Byron, now let's get this straight. I'm a little averse to chains. You know the food establishment kind. Chains for other pursuits if you know what I mean are fine, and actually a little fun! Ha.

Anyway back to Byron, I think I have to give them a little kudos since they're attempting to give maccie ds a run for their money. I mean they've got chains ALL over London. It's mental! One look on my favourite App ever made Burgerac will show you what I mean. They're taking over dude. I can't ignore them anymore!

So we went to Byron. I was a little worried it wouldn't live up to the superb quality of Honest. But actually Byron was a very nice surprise.

We ordered the smoky and shady, the latter being their current special.
And fries. Oh and I ordered a great Oreo milkshake. He's definitely gonna think I'm a fatty... It's only a matter of time!

The burgers came and they were good. The right side of pinkness. The brioche buns were light and held the patties perfectly. We shared our burgers. Cutting them in half. I don't normally do this. As most of my burger buddies will attest to.

The smokey was good, however if I compare it to the PandB version of a smokey burger it wasn't a patch on it.
The Shady on the other hand was epic. Inbetween was a grilled gooey and caramelised cheese that stuck the patty and bun together perfectly. I don't know how they did it but it was the most perfect grilled cheese ever.

We were both very happy and full.
Nice work Byron.

Project Brainwash Hot Chap is GO!

And the best thing about it is I've now got a proper burger buddy to hang out with.

Mmm... Honest Burger Oxford Circus

Hitting a burger joint on a rainy Monday night with a vegetarian isn't going to be the best idea I've ever had. Luckily there were three of us and the vegetarian was outnumbered. Ha ha! And we'd had a fair amount of red wine so we just wanted to get out the rain and get dinner! I of course just wanted some meat.

I have actually gone to a burger joint with a veggie who allows himself a piece of meat very very occasionally. His quote from said visit that he 'felt like King Henry the VIII' was pretty funny. Maybe we were in for a similar experience?

My fellow meat eater and I were in for a bit of flack. But we were unaware of this at that point. Just a word of advice. If you like meat a LOT it's probably not wise going to a beautiful burger joint with a vegetarian, and newly upgraded vegan! Argh! Although credit to her...  The fact that she even walked into Honest burgers just off Oxford Street was a bonus. I love how secretly I was thinking that even though she didn't partake in the meat eating she was still supporting the cause by buying food!

I ordered the special. An homage to Spain that consisted of a concoction of meat like a cured ham atop a beautiful cheese and a signature beautiful honest patty, not forgetting a large roasted red pepper that added a sweet dimension to the burger. Oh and the lovely lovely rosemary chips.

My compadre went for the cheeseburger. We were very happy with our choices.
And the veggie ordered the chips. Meh. I'm not quite sure what to say about this. Except maybe it was my fault that I said how much I loved their rosemary fries. Hmmm I was kind of looking forward to trying a bite of the veggie offering. It wasn't to be.

Three can be a crowd sometimes and this time it definitely was. My fellow burger buddy and I heartily tucked into our burgers with gusto.

We were really enjoying the beautiful morsels of juicy meat tucked up into beautiful soft brioche buns, while the poor veggie just had a bowl of chips to tuck into. I know who was winning here.
Unsurprisingly we got into a heated debate about the terrible carnage the consumption of meat was doing to our planet.
Actually it was more like a vegan tirade against meat and whatever we said wouldn't have made a foie gras difference.

That'll be the booze talking!
Suffice to say I probably won't be attending any burger joints with a vegetarian again. Except maybe our King Henry dude.

All in all it was a particularly weird visit to a burger joint. But I came away happy, and full so job done.
Maybe next time I can take the veggie to Meat Mission and they can turn her into a Dead Hippie!!! Ha!

Mmm... Honest Soho

Wow, well having had a boozy night out with some very lovely friends of mine I was hankering after a good piece of meat to nurse my hangover. I shall forever accept the fact that I am a greedy bitch. There, it's out there. We can all move on now.

So feeling particularly ravenous and a little hungover there was nothing for it except a good burger and one that is a little less dirty than my normal go to burger at MeatMarket.
Honest in Soho was just the button. The best burger in Soho. A beautiful burger joint just a stones throw from the best boozers, gay bars, sex shops and massage parlours.
Honest is a little welcome delight nestled in the heart of it all on Meard Street.

My hunk of a man wanted a burger too so what better way to spend some quality time together than over a good patty and the most divine chips you'll ever have.

I've come to expect the best, and Honest didn't disappoint. Normally shunned by a two hour wait, we somehow managed to drop in and there was a hallowed table ready for us immediately. We were on the up.

This was one of those times when I wasn't concerned when we decided to order the same burger. I don't like sharing and my amigo here didn't look like he was prepared to share either... Although I am coming round to sharing a burger with this guy. That'll be a first!
Luckily we both went for the Tribute burger so no sharing just yet.
A beautiful chunky beef patty, bacon, American cheese, burger sauce, mustard, pickle, lettuce and onion. Quite a burger.

Oh and not forgetting the tastiest rosemary salted chips. They are so brilliant. It doesn't normally happen but sometimes at Honest I forget about the burger because the chips are so good. And that's not because the burger ain't all that. Oh no. When I do remember about the poor lil patty sitting there dejected I take a bite and then remember that these things are both brilliant. Perfect together like me and my hunky friend!

So our burgers arrived and they were pretty special looking. This was my first burger outing with my friend and I was hoping to impress. He looked it. Phew!
Now for the taste test!

A pink patty, juicy and seasoned to perfection. The cheese had melted to a goo and stuck the patty to the perfectly soft brioche bun. The onions, pickle burger sauce and mustard all complemented the whole ensemble. It was a little dirty but not overly so. It was divine.

I don't quite know what else to say as at that point I descended into a sort of like trance. Maybe it was a mixture of the hot burger and the hot boy. Ha. Who knows.

Boy that was a good burger.

Mmm... Stax

So after a pretty sweaty session in town we were looking for a new burger joint. Yoga session of course. Honestly what were you thinking??

We were in Kingly Court and decided we may as well make the most of the many restaurants around. Stax caught my friends eye and we made a decision to go there.

The main items were of course the burgers. But Stax is all about the American Diner style of cooking, so there were loads of other things on the menu like fried chicken and green tomatoes... We were spoiled for choice. Also must mention that the proprietor is also the one and only Bea of Beas of Bloomsbury. I think we'll be in good hands!

I of course went for a burger, the Big Stax. All I could imagine is a hot beefy man of a burger, rippling muscles and you know... A good grip.
Inside the brioche bun is a spicy sauce, maple glazed beef bacon, a 28 day aged beef patty, caramelised onion, lettuce, tomato and cheese of my choice, so I went for the Monterey Jack. My burger man is called Jack Stax. He's a crack shot, has guns of steel and rides a Harley! Ha ha. Sorry totally getting carried away!

The joint was busy so we were told there'd be a wait for our food of twenty minutes, but that didn't sound too bad so we stuck around.

The big fat patty arrived, and looked pretty epic actually. A nice shiny brioche bun with a hell of a lot of things inside it. Unfortunately my beef was a little overdone, even though I'd ordered medium rare. Poor jack had been at the sunbeds again. There were no pink bits dammit. The burger itself was juicy though and my first bite was a bit messy. Jack Stax had redeemed himself. That's how I like it!
There was loads and I mean a shit ton of caramelised onion. The bacon beef, something of a surprise as none of us had had it before was unusual. Thin slices of beef, probably soaked in some sugar syrup and then slow cooked. Giving it a consistency similar to bacon. It's good but it almost overpowers the patty...

It's a dirty burger. Dripping juice all in the basket.
Like the titanic, the icebergs were a little large. A proper shredding of the lettuce next time I think and not so much of it. The slice of tomato was standard.

Cajun chips, are pretty spicy. With a dusting of rosemary... Which was a nice touch. Although really what's wrong with a nice French fry with no crazy stuff on it?

I liked the slugs, also known as Fried gherkins. Pretty yummy, although the fried stuff fell off the gherkin at first touch. And that stuff was pretty yummy. I wished I'd ordered the fried chicken burger, because it looked real good. Poor Mr Stax... It was never gonna work out. I could tell he liked his motorbike more than me.

Not forgetting my Oreo cookie milk shake. Wow very yummy and thick and creamy. It was like a desert! Mmm tasty.

Overall a good visit. My burger buddies had mixed reviews, everyone agreeing the beef bacon was a little too overpowering on the beef. But the burger was a beautiful stack of meat so who could complain!

Mmm... Lucky Chip

Even though everyone bailed and although I've a little burger date with an incredibly lovely friend this weekend I couldn't resist going and getting a cheeky burger this evening. It is of course National Burger Day. What kind of burger blogger would I be if I failed to get a juicy bit of meat today? Rubbish that's what. I would have to hang up my self appointed burger bitch crown, indeed!

So lacking a companion, which meant I could do anything I bloody well wanted and with the city calling me I decided that I could not hit a past haunt. It wouldn't be right. As much as P&B was calling me. I have the same problem with men! I keep going back just to be sucked in that little bit more, then I'm officially fat and hooked on meat. Tonight would be something new... Oh the PRESSURE.

I've had a particular place on my hit list for quite some time. The revered Lucky Chip. Handily located in a pub just hidden off Hackney road. Unfortunately the pub was full of hipsters so I had to try and hide my disdain for their cut off shorts and morrissey style hair. I would pretty much do anything for a good bit of meat ;)

So I got there, and yes it's a pub. Brilliant. First things first beer. Second thing, checking over the menu. Brilliantly taped to the wall.
One thing caught my eye, and it's name was Chuck Norris. I ordered that and fries.
Two aged beef patties, mmm yum, with a load of other stuff in it. Chuck wouldn't care what the rest of the contents were, so neither do I!
For those of you who do, they are as follows: American cheese, cheddar cheese, mayo, ketchup, onions, bacon and a seeded bun. Done.

It arrived and it was pretty large. Both slices of cheese had melted and the burger was a slider that's for sure... I could only see one patty and started to panic but then my faith was restored when I saw the second nestled underneath and middle slice of bun. Ooh this was a surprise. I like surprises!
I started and although it looked a mess the cheese worked well holding the whole thing together. One thing I'd say that the cheese was a bit on the not melted enough so it oozes state. I'm guessing if I talked to a physicist they could tell me the exact right temperature to get that sweet spot. Hmm that's a future science project!

Back to the burger. It was a while before my feeble hands managed to manoeuvre two patties into my mouth. I'm normally so good at that. But it was worth the wait. Meaty goodness...
Yum.
They didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked though. I'm guessing it was medium. Not bad, although I like my meat a little more juicy and pink. Like a hot man... Ha ha ha...

The burger got better and better, although there was a distinct lack of fatty oozy goodness running down my hands and arms. 'Twas a little disappointing. Although given the fact that I was alone in a pub surrounded by handsome hipsters and hipsterettes it was probably for the best. Last thing I want is to embarrass myself!

All in all this was a mighty fine burger, tasty melted cheesey meaty goodness. Clearly Chuck Norris can kick ass but he ain't dirty how I like it!

Happy National Burger Day!

Love Burgerella xx

Mmm... The Deck

There's only one tried and tested thing that is a cure for a hangover, but unfortunately I can't put it on here for fear of being blocked for explicit content ;)

Anyway, so having moped about all day not feeling quite right after the St Agnes carnival I had to do something. Even the sea didn't tempt me in. So with only an hour or two before my train departure back to the diiirrrrty smoke I had to get some food. I excellently mentioned burgers and my friend knew the perfect place.
Now firstly you might have guessed my pretties that I'm not in London. But down by the coast having some surf and fun times with new friends. So I hadn't really thought much about burgers for a bit.
Three days away is a long time. I was yearning for some tasty meat. Especially since I'd been exercising a fair bit surfing my butt off! My new favourite sport!

So we hit The Deck, for a cheese burger and chips. The chef dude has worked in a fair few places around the area, according to my mate and all pretty good places so I was looking forward to my meaty delight.

And delightful it was. A gorgeous seeded bun, just lightly toasted. Lettuce, tomato and cucumber, interesting addition!
The patty was big. Not a fat one that I couldn't get my mouth around. Although not that that would put me off of course. The bigger the better!

Back to the patty, it was good. Well seasoned and cooked nicely. It was a tasty piece of meat.

The cheese was scrummy and melted perfectly to the patty and bun and kept everything together. It was a lovely last dinner in Cornwall.
If you're ever down in Perranporth check out The Deck. Scrummy.

Mmm... Patty and Bun and Pitt Cue Co special

"I've got burger juice running down my arm!!!" She exclaimed! "This is better than sex". Naturally one might think that we're at some twisted sex party type thing but we're just at Patty and Bun on a regular Monday night. Although try telling our cute server, he reckoned it was Friday. Who are we to argue?

We were in the queue for a lengthy time so we knew what we were ordering before we'd sat down! And by lengthy it was around an hour and a half wait. The queue was of epic proportions with most of those waiting patiently salivating handing round the menu. The atmosphere was excited!

I went for the Big Patty Mac Stack and my friend who I've decided deserves the title Lady Burger went for the Beef by Dre. The music appropriately was a mix of old school hip hop and some classic dance tracks. PandB know the right tunes to play that's for sure.

Of course seeing as Patty and Bun were teaming up with Pitt Cue Co we had to order the Caramel Ribs and fries that had a special Pitt Cue Co rub.

The ribs. Oh man the ribs. They're cooked either really hot or for a long long time which has burnt off the fat and all that remains is the beautiful crispy meat. It has a hot kick to it. But it's sweet. A little like crispy duck but a whole lot better. I could have polished off a tray of them. But back to the burgers.

How could you be a vegetarian was all I could think as I tucked in.

Where to begin. Our meaty feasts arrived and were all wrapped up like a little gift from the kitchen and boy it felt like Christmas and birthdays all packed into one beautiful present.

Mine had a double patty with a slice of brioche bun in the centre. A little homage to the Big Mac perhaps. Who knew. But sorry Mr Ronald dude, your burgers have nothing on this delight for the taste buds.
The patties were exquisite. Pinky and grilled and surrounded by a melted mess of cheese that had such flavour and a special sauce that kicked all the other burger joints out the back door. Lettuce and pickes slid about the place like my attempts at ice skating in the winter. They held on for dear life though, I give them credit.

It was a giant burger, and every mouthful was a pleasurable experience. The juicy beef, the toppings and even the sesame seeded brioche bun. I ate and I was happy.

My companion at one point said "I feel dirty but in the best possible way". And well I couldnt agree with her more.

I can't speak for Lady Burger, as we weren't in the mood for sharing (am I ever???) so stuck to our own burgers. But she tucked into hers like a happy kid on Christmas Day. So the Beef by Dre cleared ticked her boxes!

Given my quest is finding the best burgers in town I can happily say I could stop looking now.
What?!? I hear you say!!! YES, you got that right guys. This is so far the best burger I've had in London.

Mmm... Honest Oxford Street

The dirtiness of our burger night out reached new heights tonight.

Armed with six vouchers that entitled each bearer a free burger at the new Honest Burger a stones throw from Oxford Circus we were excited. Less so when we were told the wait was over an hour.
The group was prepared to wait! It was a free burger after all...

The wait list gal informed us that we could download an app that told us where we were in the queue and that it would beep when they were ready for us.
Cool. Don't you just love modern tech?!?

Our wait wasn't so bad as there's loads of bars on Market Place and behind Oxford Street so we found a spot to hang out at while we waited and our hunger grew...

Eventually that buzzer buzzed and we excitedly got our butts to the restaurant before we lost our space.

Our vouchers allowed us to have any burger we wanted, regardless of whether it was a single or double. I personally went for the special which was right up my street...Beef mmm yum, smoked cheddar, bacon ketchup - what?!? Oh yes this was the bees knees. Not forgetting the onion rings, jalapeños and lettuce. Oh and chips come as standard. This sounded like a very tasty treat.

The table was pretty even keeled on the ordering, a couple with bigger appetites who went for the Honest Federation. An Honest burger but double patties... I don't quite know how they managed to get their chops around the thing. Maybe next time.

So the patty. Where do I start? One of the biggest I've ever seen, and well I've seen a fair few now. You really are getting your money's worth here. At least an inch and a half thick patty, cooked medium rare, pink and juicy and perfectly seasoned. I could have had it all on it's lonesome it's so good. But where would the fun be in that?

They know how to sex up a burger here at Honest. Bacon Ketchup. Whatever next. But seriously it was a little orgasm in my mouth. I don't think I've been impressed by a burger in this way since my first dirty affair with Meat Market. For purely different reasons mind!

Did I also mention that one of our party was breaking his vegetarianism for this visit. Seriously that's how good it is. Later he told me he felt like King Henry the eighth after his burger!!! Ha.

My burger fellows were seriously content with their choices. Special mention goes to J for finishing off her federation. The girl put it away and I have upmost respect for her. She was obviously hungry for some good meat ;)
Also, she hoovered up her crispy chips and then swapped her plate with her neighbour who'd been hoovering up his regular chips. Win. And yeah the chips were just bloody perfect. Nice little crispy morsels that reminded me of my crazy grannies roast potatoes. The crispy ones are the best!
Mmm. Hell yeah.

And so that was honest, six very happy punters who spent barely a penny! Oh that reminds me. One of our group came out with the comment of the night. You know you've had a good burger when you need to wash your hands before you pee...

Mmm... Flippin' Burgers - Stockholm

On my quest dungeons and dragons styleeee for hunting down the best burgers I decided that on my trip to Stockholm I would have to hit a good burger joint.

I had worked for it considering I'd run the Stockholm marathon and then spent two days kayaking around a bunch of Islands.
The only way to reward myself was with a  good piece of meat. And so far my luck on Tinder on the continent hadn't really paid off! Ha Ha! So the next best alternative would be searching for a burger joint.

With that I decided that the best place to find a recommendation would be through a native blogger. Sophia from Girl in Menswear had recommended Flippin' Burger so it made sense. I was intrigued as she'd said the place had queues round the block. This is always a good sign!

Our trip up there from our beautiful boat moored in the heart of the city was dampened by the weather. We were all wringing wet by the time we arrived and not in a good way might I add.

We couldn't even bag a table indoors and it was a late on a Wednesday evening. Damn! Not deterred we were relegated to the tables outside, of which all bar one was occupied. And it was still pissing it down! Luckily they had awnings! I am dedicated to meat, rain, awning or not!

The server was a lovely bearded chap who kind of looked like he'd had a long day but happily gave us recommendations on what we should order. Straight up he said the flippin burger.
A classic double cheeseburger, with mayo, mustard, ketchup and white onions. So that's what we got. I settled for a hard shake comprised of chocolate ice cream, and rum. Bloody excellent. Did I mention they use Ben and Jerry's ice cream? Even bloody better!

When the burger arrived all the cheese of which I believe were two slices had melted in between the giant inch thick patties and it looked a sight to behold... Possibly on a par with how I looked at the end of my marathon. Ha! Slightly messy, and maybe a bit sweaty! Ha ha gross!
But this was not a burger that was gross. It was juicy, actually it was a little dirty.

Our mantra on the trip had been 'keeping it slutty' and as most of our group were single and checking out the goods on Tinder it made sense... All to no avail might I add. Anyway this burger was just slutty enough, the juices escaping and running down our hands. I've said it before and I'll say it again; A sign of a good burger.

Cooked medium rare it filled me up and the silence except for the odd pleasure filled groans around the table let me know that my newly initiated burger buddies enjoyed it too. Fries were plentiful and the shake found a little way into my heart, I wish I'd written down the recipe! I am a sucker for chocolate delights...

And our visit wasn't even dampened by the weather. All in all a fabulous place to visit!

I later found out some interesting info via that the owner of flippin burger decided to search out the best burgers in the US and so travelled across the states looking for the best burger, so he could come back to Stockholm and open his own joint. How awesome is that! When it first openend it had queues around the block and still does. Oh yeah.

If you're going to Stockholm, live in Stockholm or fancy a burger and don't mind jumping on a flight go there. It was very good. Or should I say mycket bra!

Mmm... Bukowski Grill

The fat gringo at bukowski in box park. No 61.

My mate and I needed a beer and a burger. There's an array of burger joints in Shoreditch and I saw that Bukowski had opened up in Box Park, so what better way to see how it compares to the Brixton one. So after checking out the bow and arrows at the Truman brewery we headed up Brick Lane and to Box Park.
Thursday nights are a mash up in this part of town, where the suits meet the cool kids. There was some kind of beat box rapping comp taking place in the middle of Box Park and the kids were too cool for school, or at least too cool for the suit/football kitted up city boys. After walking the length of the shipping containers twice we found Bukowskis at no 61. It's tucked away in the corner and we walked straight past it at first. It's a tiny place with only three booths, but luckily there's a load of seating outside so we were able to order from the lovely bearded man at the beer pump and get a seat and wait.

We both went for the Fat Gringo. I like a good name.
And we weren't disappointed. Cooked a little more than the medium rare I ordered, it didn't make too much of a difference as the juices and quality of the patty were good.

I clearly have feeble girl hands because the contents of my burger were falling out of the bun as soon as I took my first bite. In my opinion it makes it all the more fun. But my burger buddy teased me about it and said if I really was such a Burger connoisseur I ought to learn how to hold it properly. Whatevs. He has big hands. And giant bites. He had an unfair advantage!

So back to the burger. The Jalapeno Mustard was spicy and sweet and just the right side of hot.
The cheese mixed with the mustard creating this beautifully gooey mess, and licking my fingers was a bit of a treat! I like it dirty evidently. The candied bacon was good but I could have done with it a little more on the crispy side. And the brioche bun was a real winner, like a good band manager dealing with too many crazy guitarists... It's a tough gig but it managed to hold everything together! A special mention must go to the smoked pickles garnishing the top of the burger. They were very special. I wanna know where I can get a jar of those!

After we polished off our plates we finished the rest of our beers and rubbed our well fed bellies. "That was a good shout Burger bitch" my mate said.

I'd have to agree.

The Fat Gringo £9.95
Beef patty, topped with Monterrey Jack cheese and candied bacon, jalapeno mustard, red onions, tomato, lettuce and a smoked pic

Mmm...Mishkins

Mishkins

I've been here before, I remember... The last time was with an old chum, no she's not dog food. And we had a sumptuous feast of halve platters and rolled out rubbing our bellies.

So a couple things about Mishkins set up.
Their menu is pretty extensive, covering sandwiches, sliders, hot dogs, macaroni cheese and a special of the day list. Most of its available as a whole, or a half. So it's good if you're in the mood to share or if you want to be greedy (I fall into the latter category)

I took my mum, so to be a nice polite young lady I offered to share this time. Once and only once will this ever happen.

We were sat at the bar, my favourite place. I like the interaction with the bar dudes and you feel like you have something to watch. It helps too when they've got pretty hefty beards and tats that I can ogle over.... I was on best behaviour today as Burgerella's mum was in attendance however....

The service was quick and we had a Salt beef half sandwich, Half and half which is fries and onion rings and a Beef and pork hot dog, only because the friend chicken burger had run out. sad times. I've been going through a phase of wanting dirty chicken. This time the hot dog would hve to do.

Disappointingly the half and half skewed towards chips rather than onions, which was a shame as I much prefer onion rings. The bun of my hotdog was pretty sub standard, and literally fell apart in my hands! I like when things get messy but this was crazy!  The dog itself was good. And the dressing was super tasty.
I was a little jealous of my mum's Salt Beef Sandwich, but luckily we were sharing. And as always it was gorgeous!

So all in all not a bad visit to Mishkins.
The burgers are still my favourite though!

Mmm... Meat Mission

It seems that I have a regular crew of burger companions. I'm a lucky girl. Especially when I am suffering such an addiction that I can visit three burger joints in one week. Lets not get into that. And no I'm not a lard ass. Thank God!

But back to my latest foray into the world of burgers. I went with my good friend P. She was tired, after a creative meet up thing in Shoreditch and I had plans of a greater night on the cards. Which means only a couple of options. A good Burger, or a good fella ;D ha ha.

Anyway, so I convinced her that we needed to go to Meat Mission for a meat fest... Well it was definitely that. I'm quite a fan of the Dead Hippy. I go to Meat Market regularly. I've still not been to Meat Liquor, but being in London for so long I try to avoid the places that get the hype. I mean it's been open for a couple of years and there's always still a massive queue outside. The same can't be said to Meat Market. I never wait there. I'm sure the proprietors would hate to hear that, but I like it. I have little patience and I never share. This is all you need to know about me!

So back to our arrival. We didn't wait long at all. we had enough time to order a beer and next thing we knew we were being sat on the pews in between some restaurant goers tucking into their patties. I was salivating.

I loved the look of the place, it took me back a bit to my artsy fartsy days of Art Foundation where I was obsessed with Tracey Emin and Gilbert and George. Both of whom I stalked in the old days of Shoreditch when it wasn't cool and definitely not trendy.

The ceiling at Meat Mission is like a kind of churchy homage to G and G. I love it.
Apart from the colour situated above the diners the rest of the place is black. Walls, floor tables. all black. I'm not sure why the place is in mourning, maybe black paint was on offer that week? he he.

We both went for the Dead Hippy. I ought to branch out more often, but I know what I like. I couldn't resist ordering the Chicken fingers. I felt a mix of excitement and repulsion about the idea of 'chicken fingers', firstly the taste of the buffalo sauce, that I wish I could bathe in I love it so much, and yet, the idea of a chicken having fingers... bit gross. Sorry if I've just ruined your idea of this wonderful food. Suffice to say, they were pretty delicious. And without the added hassle of bones. Win Win I say. Fries were epic and the burgers, well, what can I say. Just the right side of slidery. The patty was cooked just right, not too bloody, but bloody enough. It was a bit dirty, with the grease running down my hands. Just how I like it. Sometimes I don't know how such a catholic girl became such a filth addict. But hey, we're all god's creatures..

Go and get holy down at the mission...

Mmm... Patty and Bun {again}

Patty and bun
Friday 21st March 2014

Queue thirty minutes
Table for two
Burgers, wings, fries and beer. In my opinion the perfect way to spend time on a Friday night. Except the queuing!

I decided despite my spicy reservations to go with the Jose Jose burger. My last foray into the world of spicy burgers, at Red Dog caused me temporary dizziness and weeping and the loss of respect from my fellow burger compadres. I was understandably nervous.

There was no need however. This burger was divine. Spicy, but not crazy spicy and kind of sweet. There were a lot of peppers in it but they were small perfectly roasted and added an extra dimension to the juicy patty inside.
The wings as always melted in your mouth and were a tangy sweet affair. I've still not found anywhere in London that does chicken that falls off the bone better.
I'm warming up to the 'skin on' fries. I wasn't too taken with them at first but I keep imagining them having little coats on, which entertains me and They're actually pretty tasty! I know I'm a weirdo.

I have a feeling that my friend was a little jealous of my burger, he went for the Arri Gold, which I had last time and it's a classic slider. It's bloody good! A recent friend who knows the Patty and Bun dudes says that the Arri Gold is named after a friend. IMO that is something truly epic. I'd love to meet Mr Gold. You gotta be pretty cool to have a burger named after yourself...
What I would give to have a burger named after me! Perhaps my first born?!? Ha ha! I wonder what they'd call my burger. Maybe the Blondie? With a lil' reference to The Good The Bad and The Ugly! Fave film.
God knows what it might have in it. I might start thinking about that one!

I still profess that the Mr Miyagi I had at the burger off in Borough Market courtesy of P and B was one of my all time favourites!
I'm gonna start a petition to bring it back!

Overall though this last visit was very rewarding. Especially since upon walking in they were playing old school garage which took me right back about fifteen years. God I'm getting old!!

Patty and Bun is up there in my top burger joints of London.

Go visit them!

Mmm Milk Restaurant, Les Carroz, France

Mmm, well what can I say about this place? Firstly that on the three occasions we've visited the beautiful ski area of Le Grand Massif we've gone to the Milk Restaurant six times! And our group generally all order the burgers because they're so good!

A handmade toasted soft brioche bun decorated with pumpkin seeds is the first mouthwatering sightyou get, and it's a vision :)

The burger cooked medium rare is juicy well cooked and flavoured with a dill, cream sauce. Every bite is full of flavour.

I loved the fries and side salad, and the service is always impeccable!

You can't get a more perfect place to enjoy a well deserved burger and beer after a hard morning's boarding...

So if you're ever on the lookout for a tasty treat on the slopes with a gorgeous view and gorgeous food this is the place
