My plan was to hit Covent Garden's meat Market. A particular favourite of mine. But I decided that going alone would be pretty sad. So after not much persuasion my little P agreed to meet me at her local. Camden's honest burger.
So after a little wait, which I'd expected to be of epic proportions having read the Burgerac review from the Brixton branch we were pleasantly surprised to be seated almost immediately upon asking for a table for two.
Honestly though, what is this with 'no bookings' policy? It's ridiculous and a little pretentious. And when a restaurant has a seating capacity for what feels like 20 people you will be waiting a long time.
We got seated and here's my burger fiend friend
Back to the sliders. So we ordered, P had the classic Honest burger and I went for the special. Which seemed to have a little more in for the added cost of a shiny pound. Boy am I glad I ordered it! My burger partner turned down my offer of a share, and so we tucked in. At first bite my 'special' was literally dripping with flavour! My idea of a good one is when the meaty juices are flowing down my hands and there's a big risk of getting it all over myself. It's part of the charm of a proper burger right???
Well this was one such meaty delight.
Full of flavour, the steamed bun was just right, soft and nestling the juicy patty party in its belly alongside the standard tomato, gherkins and mustard... Yum yum!
My burger compadre wasn't faring as well. Her's was much drier and definitely not as juicy as mine. Normally I resign myself to the fact that I'll always suffer with food envy, but my luck was in and I wasn't suffering with a touch of the green eyed monster...
Here's my delightful burger...
